Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 5270/1R

The 5270 was the first perpetual calendar chronograph Patek Philippe built on a wholly in-house chronograph calibre. Before it, the house used a modified Lemania base for decades. That transition is the single most important thing to understand about the reference.

The dial architecture is textbook: day and month in twin apertures, leap year and day-night in small round windows, moonphase and date at six, tachymetre on the flange. It should look busy. It does not.

This is the bracelet execution in rose gold with a black dial, which converts a formal complication into something that can be worn at any hour. The bracelet is made in the same workshop as the case and adds substantially to both cost and waiting time.

Movement finishing is where the money sits. Geneva Seal-standard bevelling, black-polished chronograph levers, a swan-neck regulator, all of it visible through the sapphire back.

Every serious collection with a complicated Patek in it eventually arrives here. There is no substitute reference.
